‘Media and the Riots - A Call For Action’ Out Now!

One year on from the 2011 English riots, Citizen Journalism Educational Trust and The-Latest.Com have published ‘Media and the Riots - A Call For Action’, which  is the first report to examine the relationship between mainstream media and communities affected by the riots. Written by University of Leicester social scientist Dr Leah Bassel, it also looks at the role of social media and citizen journalism. The report builds upon views expressed at the Media and the Riots conference in South London last November, which was attended by diverse communities from London and beyond, and media representatives. The report includes conclusions and recommendations that pave the way for much better future news reporting, plus a foreword by media commentator and lecturer Roy Greenslade. Priced £15 (Organisations), £5 (Individuals) and £3.50 (Unwaged), to buy a copy, click here.
